Before I die, I want to …

On my walk across campus today, I came upon this chalkboard hung oLeave your mark at UNCn the campus at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.

Leave Your Mark - the unveiling of a communication chalkboard where students are invited to express themselves …On the board was this phrase:

BEFORE I DIE, I WANT TO …

Students were encouraged to choose a piece of chalk and write something.

I hope you enjoy this slideshow as much as I enjoyed reading it!

And, yes … I did write on the board though it was not “lick the liberty bell,” since someone else had already wrote that!

What would you write on the board?

End Racism * Go to Ireland * Fill a pool with jello * Sky dive * Cure cancer * Write a book * Impact someone’s life * Climb 53 14ers in Colorado * Swim with the dolphins * End sex traffiking * Be able to help someone else make their dream come true * Build a house * Witness a miracle * Love like crazy * Travel the world * Have a child * Put a couch in an elevator and sit in it all day*

Some one wrote mine too: sky dive!

  2. Oh, what a neat idea…you get such insight as to how/what the students are thinking…what is really on their mind…maybe will try this with a group sometime…

    Hi,
What a fantastic idea, I think I would write:
See as much of the world as possible. :)

  4. Lick the Liberty Bell? You crack me up. LOL.. I so love it.

I’d write, Before I die I want to… live as a nun. I don’t mean this with any disrespect or am I being flippant. I’d like one day to experience living a life with just the very basic needs met, have it be a choice. To live alone in silence and my one obligation being serving God’s worlks.

  5. I love the fact that nobody wrote anything related to money (I want to win the lottery) or even education (I want to get my BA in Criminal Justice). They wrote about something tangable, experiential, hopeful or just silly. That makes me smile!

  6. At the last Beaufort Street Festival, there was one of these walls. They are wonderful. I think I have a photo of it – somewhere….

  7. Be absolutely sure everyone I know, knows I love them.

LOVE AS MUCH AS I CAN …….XX

I truly enjoyed that slide show!

Myself, I’m one of those who wants to swim with the dolphins … to just once get to look a dolphin in the eye — that, I want to do.

  10. Wow, this is a hard one for me. There is so much I want to do!

  13. very cool, add me to the swim with dolphins and go to Ireland folks!

Did you see how many people chose things they can make happen with a small investment and some time? If you want to swim with dolphins, (and I do,) save the money and do one of the following: Disney has a dolphin swim in Florida; take a cruise that stops in the Yucatan, and go to Cozumel, where there’s a dolphin swim; Google dolphin swim — there are 13,000,000 answers, and one will be right for you. Same with SkyDive, Bunjee Jump, How about “be able to help someone’s dream come true?” Anyone can do that, because we all have different kinds of dreams. I would write, “Be Love, Be Happy.”

Can I write two? I would write see the world and publish a book. Great post!

That is powerful even with the morbidity involved… ;-)
I’m finally catching up again on blog posts. Thanks for your patience! :-)
